How To

How to get Organic Meat on a budget

In this post, I'll share tips and tricks on buying organic meat without breaking your bank account.

Here are my tips for finding cheap organic meats. I'll also tell you how much each pound costs. You'll learn how to get the best from what you buy.

It doesn't take a lot to eat healthy. Sometimes creativity is required to make money while still eating healthy. Here are my suggestions for ways to cut food costs while still enjoying the benefits of organic meat.

  1. Buy bulk food at wholesale clubs. Sams Club and Costco both offer great options for buying bulk foods like pork chops and chicken breasts. If you are fortunate enough to live near one, you may be able get discounts up to 50 lbs on large quantities. You won't have to waste meat. If you buy it in bulk you can freeze it so it lasts more.
  2. Online shopping is a great way to find meat at a discounted price. Amazon offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal with free shipping on orders above $35. You can get discounts on ground beef, beef roasts, lamb steaks and pork loins. It's easy to browse their website and see what's available at different times.
  3. Find a local farmer - Local farmers usually charge less than big box retailers because they do not pay considerable fees to stock their shelves. They also know what their animals ate and drink so they can tell exactly what is inside.
  4. Look out for cuts that are the leanest. It's generally less expensive to cook lean meat than fatty. Look for the tiniest cuts. These include sirloin, tenderloin, top round, flank, and top-round steaks. These cuts are low in fat and high-protein.
  5. Try new recipes. Start cooking with ingredients that you have never used before. This is one of the easiest ways reduce your grocery costs. You may be surprised by how many delicious dishes you can come up with using fresh tomatoes, onions, garlic, olive oil, and spices.
  6. Use leftovers to create new recipes. Remaining meat can be used for quick lunches or dinners.

That's it! So there you have it! My list of tips for getting organic meat without breaking the bank. Are you able to offer any additional tips? Do you have any suggestions for me on where to find cheap meat?
